This project was inspired by a desire to create more flow in the home. As we felt into the different areas, we realized there was a way to move the home office into the room downstairs so the living room could be more open and spacious. We also wanted to have an area to display family photos, so we created a “family altar” that could display not only family photos, but family ‘treasures’ as well. The kitchen also received a refresh as we moved plants and plant stands from the living room into the kitchen and repurposed the former kitchen plant stand into an herbal storage unit.

This was a storage room in an Herbalist’s home who really wanted to create an “Herbal Sanctuary” for herself and her clients.

We cleared out family storage items that had previously filled the space by throwing some things away, re-organizing things and finding a different place for items to live.

This is phase 1 of this project. Future phases will bring this space into feeling like it’s own room even though it’s a space within a basement storage/laundry/furnace room. By surrounding the space in the Herbalists tinctures, teas and baskets and by bringing in items that this person loves, this “room” is becoming a true sanctuary that will be an inspired space not only for the Herbalist herself, but also friends and clients as well.

This project also got the energy moving in other areas of the home and inspired the family to finish a bathroom painting project they had put on hold for two years and pantry re-organization project that was well needed.

Just by shifting one space in a Home and getting the energy moving, so many more areas can organically begin to flow and resolve.
